Cody Janko and Alex Bell began playing together in 2006, when they joined a four piece Metal band. The band accomplished many things, including a complete regional tour of the Midwest, and played as an opening act for international groups: Killswitch Engage, Bullet for My Valentine, Atreyu, and Avenged Sevenfold. In 2008, Cody and Alex decided to pursue their own musical interests. They started as a two piece Progressive Metal band, and soon thereafter began playing acoustic music, and were known as, "Rhythmxity." They played locally for the next couple of years, and in 2011, with the addition of vocals, "Rhythmxity" changed their name to "Native Isle" for simplicity and to rid themselves of all confusion surrounding the name.
